1. Overview
Welcome to FunCam . We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a safe, enjoyable experience while using our application.
This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application handles user information, camera input, facial tracking data, device permissions, and advertising services in compliance with the Google Play Developer Policy, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
By downloading, installing, or using FunCam, you acknowledge and agree to the practices outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the application.
2. Facial Data & Face Tracking Processing (Crucial Disclosure)
FunCam provides real-time augmented reality (AR) entertainment filters, facial warps, animal masks (such as rabbits, puppies, cats, and pandas), hairstyles, glasses, and aesthetic beauty enhancement features. To make these visual effects work seamlessly, the app utilizes computer vision and facial landmark tracking technologies (such as Google ML Kit and on-device vision engines).
A. What Facial Information is Processed?
While the camera preview is active, our app temporarily detects 2D/3D facial landmark coordinates on the screen. These landmark points represent facial geometry such as the positions of the eyes, nose, mouth, cheeks, and head contour.
B. How Facial Information is Used
- Real-time Overlay Positioning: Landmark coordinates are used exclusively to determine where virtual 2D/3D assets (e.g., puppy ears, whiskers, sunglasses, funny distortions, hair overlays) should be anchored, rotated, and scaled relative to your face on your device's screen.
- Expression & Gesture Triggers: Certain interactive filters (such as the interactive tongue filter) check for mouth-open movements locally to trigger interactive animations on screen.
- Facial Warping & Beauty Enhancements: Mesh coordinates are used solely to apply GPU shader distort operations (e.g. eye brightening, subtle skin smoothing, funny chin or forehead distortions) directly to the local video preview frame.
C. No Biometric Identification or Recognition
FunCam does NOT perform facial recognition, does NOT identify individual human identities, and does NOT create biometric templates or profiles. The detected landmarks are generic relative pixel points on a frame and are never linked to any personal identity.
D. Storage and Retention of Facial Data
- Zero Server Storage: No live video feeds, photographs, or facial landmark data are ever sent to our servers or any cloud database.
- Ephemeral In-Memory Processing: Facial landmark coordinates exist only temporarily in volatile device RAM during the rendering of each individual video frame (fractions of a millisecond) and are immediately discarded.
E. Sharing with Third Parties
Facial tracking data is NEVER shared with, disclosed to, or accessible by any third-party advertising network, analytics provider, data broker, or commercial partner.
3. Device Permissions Used
To deliver core camera and creative photo/video features, FunCam requests the following runtime permissions on your mobile device:
| Permission | Platform / Name | Purpose & Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | android.permission.CAMERA |
Required to display the live camera feed, track face landmarks locally, apply real-time AR filters, and capture photos or record videos. |
| Photos / Storage | WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / Scoped Media Access |
Used solely when you explicitly tap to save or export a photo or video to your device's photo gallery / local storage. We do not access, read, or scan your existing private photo library. |
| Internet & Network | android.permission.INTERNETACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
Required to display advertisements through Google AdMob, check internet connectivity, and fetch non-personal ad assets. |
You can revoke or modify these permissions at any time through your device's operating system settings (Settings > Apps > FunCam > Permissions). Please note that revoking camera access will prevent the app from applying live filters or capturing photos.
4. Information We Collect
A. Information You Create (Locally Stored)
Photos and videos captured within FunCam remain exclusively under your control. When you take a picture or record a clip, it is stored locally on your device storage. We do not have access to your saved gallery media, and we do not upload your media to any cloud storage.
B. Local App Preferences
The app stores basic non-personal configuration settings locally on your device (e.g., your selected filter preferences, favorite filters, camera flip state, flash settings). This data is stored using standard local device storage (such as SharedPreferences and SQLite) and is never transmitted off your device.
C. Automatically Collected Technical & Advertising Data
We do not directly collect personally identifiable information (such as your name, email address, physical address, or phone number). However, our third-party advertising partner (Google AdMob) may automatically collect standard diagnostic, device, and advertising identifiers when ads are served.
5. Third-Party Services & Advertising
To keep FunCam free to use for all users, we integrate trusted third-party SDKs that provide advertising services.
Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads)
We use Google AdMob to display in-app advertisements (such as banner ads, interstitial ads, and rewarded video ads). AdMob may collect and process certain device information, such as:
- Google Advertising ID (GAID on Android) or Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA on iOS).
- IP address (used to infer general non-precise geographic location such as country or city).
- Device brand, model, operating system version, and system language.
- Ad interaction metrics (views, clicks, impressions) and crash/diagnostic logs.
• Android: Go to Settings > Google > Ads > Delete advertising ID or enable Opt out of Ads Personalization.
• iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking and toggle off tracking permissions.
For more details on how Google processes ad data, please review Google's official privacy policies:
6. Data Storage & Retention
- Photos & Videos: Stored strictly in your device's local gallery or application sandbox. You may delete them at any time using your device's native Gallery or Photos app.
- Face Tracking Landmarks: Retained only for the single frame duration in memory and immediately discarded. Retention time is 0 seconds.
- App Preferences: Retained locally on your device until you clear the app data or uninstall the application.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
FunCam is designed for general audiences and fun entertainment. We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain European jurisdictions), in strict compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU GDPR.
Because our facial tracking and AR filter technology operates entirely on-device without data transmission, no children's facial data is collected or stored. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information to third-party ad networks through our app without parental consent, please contact us immediately and we will take prompt steps to investigate and address the issue.
8. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA/CPRA)
Depending on your jurisdiction (such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or the State of California), you have specific statutory rights concerning your personal data:
- Right of Access & Portability: You have the right to know what personal data is processed about you. (Note: FunCam does not collect or maintain user accounts or personal profiles).
- Right to Deletion: You have the right to delete any data created by the app. Because your photos and videos are stored locally on your device, you have immediate, direct power to delete them anytime. Uninstalling the app permanently purges all local app data.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale / Sharing: We do NOT sell personal information or facial data to any third parties. You may opt out of cross-context behavioral advertising through your device's Google Advertising ID settings.
- Non-Discrimination: You will never be discriminated against or denied app functionality for exercising any of your privacy rights.
9. Security Measures
We prioritize the security of your device and data. We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards:
- Local Architecture: By keeping facial processing and photo storage completely on-device, we eliminate risks associated with remote server breaches, external database leaks, or unauthorized network interceptions.
- Operating System Sandboxing: FunCam operates within the Android application sandbox, ensuring that app resources and temporary data are isolated from unauthorized applications.
- Secure Network Transmissions: Any network communication performed by integrated ad SDKs uses encrypted HTTPS (Transport Layer Security - TLS).
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect updates in our features, technological enhancements, legal requirements, or Google Play policies.
When updates occur, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we safeguard your privacy.
